Did you know sewage backup is considered water damage?

There are several different categories of water damage, specifically 3. Category 3 water is when there are harmful materials in the water that is contaminated (i.e. sewage).

This customer called when they noticed a cast iron pipe had burst. There was sewage going under the home, but they were not sure how long it had been leaking.

When sewage damage occurs in a residential home, it takes a professional to clean up. This kind of damage requires Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPE is to ensure our technicians can safely clean up the damage for the customers.

In this case, it took several hours of pumping the sewage water out to make sure the area was free of it. Category 3 water requires the removal of the materials in the home (carpet, drywall, contents) because the materials are contaminated with bacteria and other unsafe matter.

Our team is trained to handle these types of damages. If you have sewage damage, remember to leave it to the professionals; we are here to help!
